Painting in an occupied office or a working clinic is a different job than painting an empty building. Odor and fumes matter because patients, staff, and office workers are often on site while the work happens, so low odor and low VOC coatings are the standard choice, not an upgrade. Containment barriers, negative air setups where needed, and clear signage keep dust and fumes away from patient areas, waiting rooms, and shared HVAC returns.
Healthcare spaces also carry code requirements around fire rated corridors, infection control during construction, and sometimes ICRA protocols depending on the facility, and we plan the work to meet those before the first can is opened. Offices tend to move fast between phases, one suite painted while another stays occupied, so we section off active work areas and keep noise and disruption contained to that zone. What a facility manager should ask about is exactly this, how fumes and dust will be controlled, what hours the crew will be on site, and whether the space will be usable the next business day.
